Financial Investigator (Designated) - South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU) - Hybrid Working

The South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU) are looking for Financial Investigators keen to progress their career as part of our Regional Economic Crime Team.

As part of the Regional Economic Crime Unit you will be targeting the most serious criminals in the South West. You will use financial investigation tools in conjunction with other specialist law enforcement tactics to gather intelligence, bring criminal prosecutions and use all available options to disrupt and dismantle organised crime groups. As part of the RECU your skills will be used at all stages of investigations into a wide variety of crime types that are causing the most harm to our communities.

This role will include confiscation and enforcement work and is an opportunity to ensure that criminals are deprived of their ill-gotten gains by securing Confiscation Orders, tracing and realising the declared and hidden assets of convicted offenders, and providing financial evidence in support of criminal investigations. You will also be able to develop as a Financial Investigator by being involved in the wider activity of the Regional Economic Crime Unit.

This is a progressive role and all applicants will be expected to become an accredited Financial Investigator.

Salary:

  • A&S – S6, SO1 or SO2 depending on experience

SWROCU is a collaboration of police officers and police staff from the five South West regional forces. We’re part of a national network of nine ROCUs covering England and Wales.

We have more than 20 capabilities that staff and officers work in to Pursue offenders, Protect and Prepare individuals and organisations, and Prevent people from engaging in serious and organised crime.

Our capabilities are here to advise, to assist, or to fully adopt investigations.

We work with local forces and national partners to target and disrupt criminals posing the greatest risk of Serious and Organised Criminality (SOC). This includes offenders involved in cyber threats, economic crime, drug conspiracies, modern slavery and human trafficking, and child sexual abuse and exploitation.

Blended / Hybrid Working

SWROCU encourage flexible working where operationally possible. This role has been identified as a blended role.
The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, which will be a police premises. The successful applicant will have the option to discuss working arrangements with their line manager. All applicants must reside within the UK.

If you are not accredited by the National Crime Agency to carry out financial investigations, you will work from role profile C9719 and your starting salary will be £30,783.

If you are accredited by the National Crime Agency under Part 8 of POCA (Financial Investigator) you will work from role profile C9721 and your starting salary will be £33,915.

If you are accredited by the National Crime Agency under Part 2 of POCA (Confiscator) you will work from role profile C9722 and your starting salary will be £36,996.

Additional Information

This role requires you to wear a uniform when exercising your designated powers, this will be provided for you and should be worn whenever such powers are discharged whilst working for Avon and Somerset Police.

Vetting and safeguarding

This post is subject to a higher security clearance at MV and SC – Management Vetting and Security Clearance Level.

To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a five-year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last five years.
