Salary:£34,650 per annum plus £6,710 London Weighting

Description of Department: Cyber and Fraud Protect Officers are at the forefront of the national strategy ‘protect’, producing national information and intelligence products, providing a UK wide networked capability for cyber advice and presenting outputs to audiences from the public to key stakeholders.

As a civilian Cyber Protect Officer, you would be responsible for turning intelligence from the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau and our partner agencies into consumer-friendly outputs and providing specialist support at events and through direct presentation.

Working with the public and private sector, as well as international partners, you will play a critical role in spreading the understanding that cybercrime is rapidly taking over from ‘traditional’ crime types.

activities and who want to help protect our communities from the ever increasing and complex

threat of cybercrime.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of the National Cyber Protect strategy, ensuring crime prevention initiatives are aligned with stakeholder plans.
  • Engagement with Industry groups and Business sectors concerning Protect advice and guidance. Assisting the wider UK Protect Network to deliver on key recommendations relating to Cyber Threats and vulnerability within Organisations.
  • Work with partners from across law enforcement and industry to create and provide support for campaigns against key fraud/cyber threats.
  • Raise awareness of threats posed by fraud/cyber to the general public, law enforcement and private industry.
  • Conduct research into, and share good practice for, fraud/cyber prevention.
  • Deliver presentations to stakeholders in relation to fraud/cyber prevention and attend education and awareness events, cascading learning as required.
  • Represent the team at relevant Fraud Prevention forums.
  • Contribute to the development of intelligence products at a strategic and tactical level.
  • Conduct reviews of the effectiveness of local protect strategies and prevention advice.
  • Keep up to date with the fraud/cyber prevention landscape
  • Design and develop preventative alerts, then plan and co-ordinate delivery plans for these.
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role and grade as may reasonably be requested by line management.

The application and interview will be tested under the CVF Level 2 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework.
