Description of Department: It is an exciting time to join the Finance team, with its future vision to provide an exceptional Finance service, supporting and enabling front line policing. This includes supporting transformational change, driving commercial opportunities and building strong relationships across the Force and with our partners.

Purpose of the Role: We are looking for an excellent Senior Finance Business Partner to bring strategic financial leadership to City of London Police’s role as National Lead Force for Fraud & Cyber. It will also provide essential, senior finance support and advice to the FCCRAS programme, which has a whole life cost in excess of £160m and is one of the Government’s Major Programmes. The responsibilities of the role include delivering financial insight and business intelligence to the National Lead Force portfolio to ensure the Force’s strategic objectives are met, leading on the assessment of full cost recovery to make sure that grant funding and recharges are set to cover the cost of providing those services, liaising closely with Home Office on (revenue and capital) costs and funding, monitoring and forecasting the in-year financial position and providing expert modelling support to all of this work.

As well as a strong grounding in financial services, candidates will have an ethos of continuous improvement to support ongoing development of the service, the team and the Force. A background in public sector finance would be an advantage. This is a real opportunity to guide future direction and make a real difference.

The successful candidate will provide financial advice to enable the maximisation of resources and the successful delivery of value for money services. This includes the promotion of financial standards and practices across the Force to ensure a financially compliant organisation and provision of financial, commercial and strategic support to budget holders, service managers and senior management. You will have excellent communication skill and will play a pivotal role in strengthening the quality and flow of information between the Finance team and service areas. You will have the capability to develop a deep understanding of the National Lead Force portfolio, be able to work collaboratively with colleagues across the business areas and be able to balance the service needs with financial stewardship whilst at all time delivering exceptional professional standards.
